Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most.

How ordering works at Alps Controls, and the fastest way to get what you need.

Alps Controls is a drop-ship direct distributor. That model is why the selection is so broad, and it shapes pricing, lead times, and shipping.

  • You order on one siteMillions of parts, 200+ manufacturers, one shopping cart.
  • The manufacturer ships itCurrent revisions, shipped straight to you.
  • You track it in your accountOrders, tracking, lists, and pricing in one place.

How drop-ship pricing and lead times work

Why does the site show the manufacturer's part but no shelf stock?

We drop ship direct from the manufacturer. When you order with us, the manufacturer fulfills it and ships it straight to you. You get one order, fewer invoices, one point of contact, and access to current product revisions rather than whatever someone had on the shelf. Some manufacturers require a U.S. ship-to address; out-of-country requests may need a freight forwarder.

Is your price marked up over the manufacturer's price?

The price you see is live online. Registered account holders see reduced pricing. Guest checkout shows closer to list-level pricing, so if you have an account, log in before you compare. If you have a large project quantity, send it with your request and we can work on the pricing with the manufacturer on your behalf.

What does the lead time on a product page mean?

Any published lead time is the manufacturer's current processing time before the order ships; transit from the manufacturer to you is separate. Faster shipping (next day, second day) shortens the trip, but generally not the manufacturer's production time. If a date matters, tell us before you order and we will confirm availability with the manufacturer first, and have your order delivered the least expensive way that meets your delivery date.

Why do some parts show stock levels and others don't?

We have live, accurate inventory feeds from some manufacturers, so any stock count you see is current. We are actively integrating with additional manufacturers to make that list as comprehensive and reliable as possible.

What will my shipping costs be?

Shipping depends on weight, ship method and zone. Check the product page for "Special Shipping" manufacturers: we have partnered with many to offer flat-rate ground shipping or free ground shipping above a threshold, and some ship ground free regardless of order size. Otherwise, ground shipping has historically averaged 2 to 5% of the order cost, charged per manufacturer, so a multi-manufacturer order (or one with "Partial Shipments Allowed") can carry more than one shipping charge. Freight/LTL (with possible lift-gate, residential or other fees) and expedited methods are priced by weight or dimensions and zone. For an estimate, reach us on live chat or at [email protected].

How do I upload a material list?

In your Alps Controls account, you can upload a list of parts or an entire bill of materials to quickly build your order instead of adding items individually. It's also very easy to move a list to a quote, a project, or to keep it for repeated ordering.
